It appears that the New Zealand legal jobs scene is improving - albeit slowly - and emerging from a tough 12 months. Recruiters are reporting an increase in various job categories, including property and commercial law areas, two areas that signal an increase deal flows and increased legal work.
The jobs market does however remain fragile with firms reluctant to enter anything remotely resembling a bullish phase and are recruiting carefully and the larger law firms are focusing on bringing alumni back to fill the job gaps.
